In the '99 I bought an Acer TravelMate 312T.
Read about my
experience installing Linux
and Windows 98 on it.
The notebook came whith Windows 98 Italian version, which has an annoying bug with SYSTRAY.EXE and PCMCIA. There is a page where Microsoft acknowledges the bug, but does not provide a fix. Here there is the page revised by me, it contains the patch. In 2001 I upgraded its RAM and hard disk, here you can find some hints to disassemble the notebook and some photos of the inside. Some time ago I had also a Compaq Contura Aero 4/25. Here are some FAQ, diagrams, photos. Also some software to boot the notebook from the serial line! |

In this page you can find some programs
I wrote. There is a little
game of cards (Windows and Linux), a tool for knowing what
changes in your system when you install a Windows program,
a program for driving voice modems under Linux, a reminder
for do-it-yourself motorbike maintenance. All the programs are distributed under GPL, so they are packed with their sources (VisualBASIC, C, ...). I also mantain a list of very useful utilities, those I can't live without. They are free o shareware, so you can download them from the Top Ten Page. |
